BIPT supervises two economic sectors:

the telecommunications sector, now called electronic communications.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) was established by Legislative Decree No. 48 of 2002 promulgating the Telecommunications Law. The TRA is an independent body and its duties and powers include protecting the interests of subscribers and users, and promoting effective and fair competition among established and new licensed operators.

Telecommunications Regulatory Entity (TRE) is the regulatory authority that monitors the regulatory framework according of the law of the telecommunications in Albania and of the policy objectives defined by the Council of Ministers. TRE is established and started as indipendent authority on 1998 according to the law No 8288 date 18.02.1998

The Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR) was established under Austrian law. RTR consists of two divisions (Broadcasting and Telecommunications) and provides operational support for the Austrian Communications Authority (KommAustria) and the Telekom-Control Commission (TKK).

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is an independent Commission established under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Act, 2001 (Act no. 18 of 2001) published by the Parliament in the Bangladesh Gazette, extraordinary issue of April 16, 2001. BTRC started functioning from January 31, 2002.

The Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA) came about as a result of the desire of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be involved in modern trends of efficient and effective communication regulation. It is an independent State institution with sole jurisdiction over telecommunications and broadcasting across the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) was established by Parliament in 1968. It is an independent public authority constituted under the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. C-22, as amended) and reports to Parliament through the Minister of Canadian Heritage.
